Terms of Use
Effective date: 12 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Speaki ("we", "us"). They cover the Speaki website, web app and Android app (together, the "Service"). Please read them with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use your personal data.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. What Speaki is
Speaki helps you practise spoken English. You talk with Tara, an AI speaking partner, in a live voice call.
- Tara is an AI, not a person. Tara's replies are written by a computer model and spoken by a computer voice. No human listens to your calls live.
- AI can make mistakes. Tara may give wrong grammar, wrong facts or a poor answer. Check anything important.
- It is practice, not advice. Tara does not give professional advice (for example legal, medical, financial, immigration or career advice). Do not rely on Tara for decisions.
- No promised results. We cannot promise that you will pass an interview or an exam, or reach a certain level.
- No certificate. Unless we say so in writing, the Service gives no qualification or certificate.
- Calls may be recorded. If you told us you are 18 or over, we record your practice calls to improve Tara. We never record anyone under 18, or anyone who has not told us their age. The Privacy Policy explains this, how long we keep recordings and how to have them stopped or deleted.
3. Who can use Speaki
- Speaki is open to everyone, including people under 18. If you are under 18, please use it with the knowledge of a parent or guardian, who should read these terms with you.
- You must have an Indian mobile number (+91) that you control.
- If you are 18 or older, you must be able to enter a binding agreement under Indian law.
- You must give true information. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you must not give false details or pretend to be someone else.
4. Your account
- You log in with your mobile number and a one-time password (OTP) that we send by SMS.
- One account belongs to one person. Do not share your account or your OTP. We may suspend accounts that are shared.
- Keep your phone safe. Anyone who can read your SMS can log in to your account. If you lose your phone or number, contact us.
- You stay logged in on a device for up to 90 days, and you are logged out after 30 days without use. You can log out at any time in Settings.
- Your mobile number cannot be changed in the app. If you change your number, contact us.
5. Passes and payments
- A pass is a one-time payment for a period of time. Today there is one pass: ₹49 for 30 days. It does not renew automatically. We never set up an automatic debit or a mandate.
- You need an active pass to call or chat with Tara. There are no free minutes.
- We show the price and the length of the pass before you pay. Prices include taxes unless we say otherwise.
- Payments are handled by Razorpay or Cashfree in their own secure checkout, which opens from Speaki. We do not see or store your full card, bank or UPI details.
- If you buy a pass while another is active, the new pass starts when the current one ends.
- Unlimited practice. A pass gives unlimited calls and chat while it is active, with no daily limit; one call at a time, each with a maximum length (section 8).
- Delivery. A pass is digital. Nothing is posted to you. It starts on your account as soon as your payment is confirmed, and you use it in the web app or the Android app. The Refund and Cancellation Policy explains this and what happens if a payment fails.
- Refunds and cancellation. They follow our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which is part of these terms. There is no subscription to cancel. If a payment is taken and no pass is added, or you pay twice for one purchase, the money is confirmed or refunded automatically.
6. Fair and safe use
You agree not to:
- use Tara to create content that is illegal, sexual, hateful, violent or threatening, or that harms someone;
- try to make Tara produce such content (for example by "jailbreaking" or tricking the AI);
- harass, threaten or abuse anyone, including through the Service;
- have other people speak on your calls without their permission (their voice is processed like yours);
- share someone else's personal details (such as their phone number or address) in a call;
- record, copy, resell or publish the Service or Tara's replies as your own product;
- use bots, scripts or automated tools to use the Service, or copy ("scrape") it;
- try to break, overload or get around our security, rate limits, OTP checks or payment checks;
- copy, change or reverse-engineer our apps, except where the law allows it;
- break any law, or anyone else's rights.
We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, puts others at risk, or appears to be abused (for example, shared). Where we can, we will tell you why and let you respond.
7. Your content and our content
- Your content is what you say or type in the Service. You keep your rights in it. You allow us and our service providers to process it only to run the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use it to train AI models unless you agree to that separately.
- Our content includes the apps, Tara's name, images and voice, lessons and design. We own it or have permission to use it. You may use it only for your own personal practice.
- Tara's replies are for your personal learning. You may keep notes from them for yourself.
8. Availability and changes to the Service
- We work to keep the Service running, but it may sometimes be slow or unavailable, for example because of network problems, maintenance or very high demand.
- When many people are calling, a new call may not start. Please try again later.
- Calls have a maximum length, and a call ends when your pass ends.
- We may add, change or remove features. If a change takes away something you paid for, we will tell you and give you a fair remedy, such as extra days on your pass or a refund for the days you cannot use.
9. Ending your account
- You can stop using Speaki at any time.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data. The Data Deletion page explains how, and "Your rights" in the Privacy Policy lists what you can ask for.
- We may close your account under section 6, or if the law requires it. Where we close it for breaking section 6, we do not refund the rest of your pass.
- If we close Speaki completely, we will tell you in advance where we can, and we will refund the unused days of any pass you have.
10. Our responsibility to you
- We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. It is provided "as is" and "as available", and we cannot promise it will never be interrupted or have errors.
- We are not responsible for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as network or power failures, problems with your phone, or action by a government or a payment provider.
- We are not responsible for decisions you make based on Tara's replies (see section 2).
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost income or a lost job opportunity.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about the Service is limited to what you paid us for the pass that was active when the claim arose.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or removes any right you have under Indian consumer law that cannot be removed.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. If we cannot settle a dispute by talking first, the courts at Gurugram, Haryana have jurisdiction, without limiting your rights under consumer protection law.
Please try our Grievance Redressal process first (section 13). It is free, and we answer within the times stated there.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We will show you the new terms in the app before they apply. If a change matters to you (for example, about payments or your data), we will ask you to accept it. If you do not accept, you can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account.
If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given it up. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refund and Cancellation Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
